BUSINESS SERVICES
“Alitalia Servizi” is structured in four business units:
1. Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) handles maintenance and servicing for the Alitalia fleet and for other international carriers. Based at “Fiumicino Flight City” and covering an area of about 700,000 square metres, E&M is divided into seven hangars, forty workshops, warehouses and a training centre approved by EASA Part-147. E&M has a workforce of 2,320 people specialized in large aircraft such as B777, B767 and MD11 (see the fleet). This sector also includes the Atitech company and Alitalia Maintenance Systems specializing respectively in servicing medium-haul aircraft and overhauling engines.
2. Alitalia Airport: the airport handling company employs more than 4,200 people and manages a network of five airports: four in Italy and one abroad. For airline company clients, Alitalia Airport carries out check-in services, passenger boarding and deplaning, sorting and delivering luggage, tracing lost items, sorting goods and mail, onboard and ramp cleaning, as well as centring aircraft.
3. Centralized Services: this unit employs 600 people, most of them located in Rome with a smaller number in Naples and Milan. They carry out various activities, mostly of the administrative and accounting type, supporting the sectors dealing with administration, personnel management, computing, and the call centre.
4. Computer and telecommunications services: the ICT area manages the communications network, computer data centre (CED) and centralised services. It supplies assistance, maintenance and technical support related to computer systems, and integrates the main Web services accessible on the Internet and Intranet that are of interest to the company and external users. | | |
