Alitalia: clarification on flights to and from Trieste

With regard to press reports relating to flights to and from Trieste airport, Alitalia announces that air services with Rome will be resumed after 31 August 2020, because the resumption of the route in August would have generated a significant financial loss due to the seasonal low level of demand, also combined with the rejection by the managing company of Trieste Airport of the request to recognize to the Italian flag airline quotation for airport services in line with the conditions offered to foreign airlines.

Alitalia has sent to the supervisory bodies of the Airline evidence on the financial discrimination with which it is treated, an attitude prevailing by the majority of Italian airports and which is incompatible with the efficiency measures taken by the Airline.

Alitalia hopes that discussions currently underway will facilitate the achievement of the conditions for a prompt recovery of flights to and from Trieste airport.
