Alitalia to minimise customer inconvenience during 24-hour union strike on Wednesday 5 April

Alitalia has already rebooked 92 per cent of its customers impacted by industrial action on Wednesday 5 April and will operate a normal schedule for six hours during a 24-hour strike called by trade unions.

A number of flights departing from Italy will operate as usual between 7 am and 10 am and between 6 pm to 9 pm Rome time.

The 24-hour trade union strike has forced the Italian airline to cancel several flights and change its domestic and international flight schedule between late Tuesday 4 April and early Thursday 6 April, but the airline has worked tirelessly to mitigate customer inconvenience.

Alitalia will lay on bigger aircraft than usual on some routes and it has increased its number of customer service staff at call centres and airports to help travellers hit by the union dispute.

Alitalia customers due to travel between late 4 April and early 6 April who have yet to be contacted directly should call the airline in Italy on toll-free number 800.65.00.55, from overseas on +39.06.65649 or the travel agency where the ticket was bought.

Passengers can choose whether to obtain a full refund or change their tickets for free by 14 April if the trade union action on 5 April impacts their travel plans.
