Alitalia flew its most punctual day on Tuesday 23 February when 97.4 per cent of the airline’s aircraft took-off on time, some 540 flights. This is the best day recorded for on time performance since the company was formed on 1 January, 2015. Alitalia’s punctuality throughout February registered strongly with 89.8 per cent of its 15,600 flights operating on time.
Alitalia continues to look to improve the travel experience for its customers with several initiatives at the airline’s hub base in Rome Fiumicino airport. New shuttle buses, new baggage belts and two sets of stairs have been added to quicken the disembarkation from the aircraft and reach the terminal faster. More ground staff have also been deployed at departure gates to accelerate the flights boarding process and a new recognisable “Transit Team” which features a distinctive grey jacket has been launched to assist air travellers with short connections efficiently from one aircraft to another.
