New Alitalia and WFP Italia fundraising campaign in support of the WFP school meals programme launched today
The new fundraising initiative launched by Alitalia and WFP Italia starts today in support of the United Nations World Food Programme, on board of the airline’s long-haul flights. The UN agency is at the forefront against hunger in the world.
The "Give for Food" campaign allows Alitalia customers traveling on intercontinental weekly flights between Italy and the United States of America, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, South Korea and - from next summer - Chile and Mexico, to leave their donations in the customized envelopes distributed by cabin crew.
Every contribution by Alitalia passengers to WFP’s school feeding programme will be converted into tangible help for school children in some of the world’s poorest countries.
WFP school meals programme in 2014 provided nutritious food to more than 18 million children in 65 countries worldwide, helping to ensure every child has access to education, health and nutrition.
This is the first time the World Food Programme is partnering with a major airline.
