In the same year, the Company takes delivery of its first jets (DC-8 and Caravelle) and the number of passengers exceeds one million for the first time. Its base is moved from Ciampino to Fiumicino. Leonardo Da Vinci airport officially opens on 11 January 1961, and during the same year the airport’s Flight Personnel Training Centre and the “Flight City” begin operations. |
